 SEO Forums

There are lots of SEO forums on the Internet. And there are a lot of so called SEO experts who frequent those forums. But since anyone can hang out a shingle and claim to be an SEO expert, "Let the buyer beware!"

Visiting these forums can be very educational and save you lots of time and money. But more likely, it will be very confusing and frustrating. That's because of two factors:

1. SEO isn't an exact science because nobody actually knows the algorithms that the Search engines actually use. They only think that they know them.

2. When you poll a group of people with questions, they all mean well when they give you an answer. But their answers are based on their opinion, not on definite facts because remember, the experts don't know the SE algos, they only think that they know them.

And you know what they say about opinions, don't you? "Opinions are like butt holes. Everyone has one, and they all stink." Ask 5 different people the same question on any forum, and you are likely to get 5 different answers.

So my advice is to ask questions, but look for a consensus of opinion. Just because one person answers your question, don't jump on that answer as the gospel.

I've visited quite a few SEO forums in the past year, and I've settled down on only one of them. This is a forum where many of the "so-called-experts" go to ask questions of someone who appears to really know what she is talking about. The forum is called High Rankings, and the lady's name is Jill Whalen.

Jill is highly regarded in the SEO industry. Her site hosts about a zillion well written articles that she has written on SEO. And she is usually the voice of reason in the free forums that are hosted on her site.

Registered forum members can even request a free site review after they have been an active member for awhile. But remember, the review is done by the forum members who are all well meaning people. But their expertise varies, as will their opinions. I recommend that you do not rush into changing major portions of your site just because one person told you to. Again, my advice is to look for a consensus of opinion
